(Title being another vague reference to The Simpsons... if you've known me long enough, you would know that this is to be expected =P)
Alright... on my 3 day break from work until the weekend... then it's two weekends of night shifts straight... sigh... and to sweeten the deal, huge maintenance project this weekend. Joy...
I actually sat in the project preview meeting yesterday on recommendation that I do just to see what the process is for planning these things. Usually, my team's presence isn't required as our team managers are usually there on behalf of us. After sitting through it though, I think it's better if one of us goes instead because our bosses don't know our jobs 100% and usually miss out on things that are assigned to us but due to something missing or not set up right, we end up not being able to do it at all. With one of us there, we can easily go through the steps we're assigned and chime in if there's any difficulty or one of those things that we aren't responsible for. I think just being more involved will allow our team to "show off" how 'valuable' we are to the rest of the department which so far appears to question our everyday existence. But even so, building inter-department unity and cooperation is already a good thing too.
When I walked out of the meeting, it dawned on me just how much more insignificant I felt. Going through my brain and knowing what kind of skills I possess and comparing it to the more senior SAs and other IT gurus, I realise I have farrrr FARRRR more to go in terms of IT knowledge. I'm like.. SHIT... I really know jack compared to these guys.. I hope this kind of experience will only motivate me to pick up on my online courses and learning UNIX faster. But I know as I'm a bit "older" now (hears laughing in the background... YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!), my ability to learn new things has diminished greatly. Maybe my timeline of jumping to a new department in a year is too ambitious for my slow brain... I guess I might have to linger on another year at most then. However, any longer and I'll collapse from this job... ugh..
I didn't end up doing any test drives today like I planned. Instead, went to a body shop to get a repair estimate. It's not as bad as I feared, but still a bit pricy.. sigh... the lessons I have to learn. Gotta take care of the new car better. I'm still heavily undecided on the new car simply because what I REALLY REALLY REALLY want won't be available until the end of the year earliest. Damn you VW!!
Once again, another boring post right? =P Blah!

I've migrated!
Ok.. first post on blogger. Hmm... rather interesting. I finally got the time today to move here. So far, it's pretty cool.
Anyways, today was a good day for me. I finally got off my lazy ass and went around for some test drives. Unfortunately, being the busy weekends that they are, I was only able to drive two vehicles, but it looks like my opinion has swayed to those vehicles for now.
Car number one is the Jetta TDI. I actually want the Golf, but they didn't have one on the lot. Just to get a feel for the engine, I said I'll take the Jetta.
First impression: The acceleration on the TDI is m4d tit3 y0! I could NOT believe how awesome of a pickup it had. I was hooked. The noise level wasn't bad for city driving, however, I plan to test drive a Golf at another dealership later on and see if I can put some highway time on it to make sure. The interior of the Jetta was VERY nice. But I think this one had the luxury package or something or other. The steering wheel had a plush material covering so it felt REAL nice. The seat support was awesome and the fit and finish was just as the dash-strokers have said on the Vortex. Overall, I'm hooked... I was so giddy when I left the VW dealership. Damn...
Car number two is the Saab 9-2x. Since I didn't have any luck getting a test drive for any other car, I decided to give this one a shot. Unfortunately, I haven't driven the Impreza to see the diff, but even so, I wouldn't be going for the Subaru anyways.
First impression: Having driven the VW first put this car at a slight disadvantage. I drove the one with the luxury package which I won't be getting... the difference being that it had leather seats. The interior doesn't look as nice as the VW, however, the driving characteristics were quite alright EXCEPT for one thing: bad throttle response. I was a bit perplexed that the throttle response was not very quick. I wonder if it's just my technique... I find it easier to blip the throttle on the Cavi for my downshifting than this car. It's the only negative point I had. The car was an OK and definitely not worth the money they were asking for. However, they got quite a few incentives on it to get rid of them, including a nice low APR. Still, the cost is too high for this car and I'd rather drive the dub if it came down to it. I'll see if they're willing to drop it to invoice. If they are, then I could be satisfied with this.
I'll have to do more test drives on Wednesday. Markham Mazda wasn't very friendly to me I think so I'll have to go somewhere else to test a Mazda3. No Cobalts/Pursuits with manual are available, but that is like my last resort anyways. I'll also try to get myself into a Golf TDI and maybe the 2.0 as a comparison as well. I'll have to hit Agincourt to do that.

December 2, 2002
Well, it's December already... boy time sure flies when you're at home sitting on your ass all day.... yeah... so much for my 4 months of rest and studying... HAH! Me? Study? pffftt..... sure... and McMaster has the best comp sci program in the world...... *rolleyes* Yeah, I'm one bitter student. I suppose it's partially my fault since a) I couldn't get into Waterloo. b) even if I did, I don't have the work ethic or programming instinct to STAY there. c) the IT market is in the SHIT right now. Yeah, things like that. I'm not in a happy mood because my spending these past 4 months is pretty bad... funny thing about me.. I'm like a friggin woman... when I'm depressed, I start buying things... LOTS of things... EXPENSIVE things.... I just HAD to be a computer geek.... damn.
On the other side of things, I'm a little nervous about going back to school. Mostly because I'll be living with total strangers again. I hope my new housemates are cool ppl. I don't exactly have much choice cuz I needed a 4 month lease and only a FEW places are offering... and this one was the best out of the two I found that was affordable. Well, whatever..... gee... wish my girlfriend was in town... I'd just live with her. HAHAHA Oh man... my mom would sooo kill me. Anyway, yeah.... it's been 4 months now. Wow... but then, it's been 4 months of being APART... no happy... Wish I had a transporter... just beam over there whenever I want.... we'd visit each other like crazy... things like that. I've done quite some thinking.... if Star Trek technology were real, then maybe things would change like dramatically. Having a Transporter would solve our transportation problems.. and having a replicator would solve our shortage of natural resources and perhaps cure our materialistic ways. Gee... if only it was THAT easy... damn.. I wouldn't mind having a replicator RIGHT now... me want stuffs. Heheheheh.
Man.. there I go blabbling again... I think I can never say anything straight out... I always seem to circle around a topic, saying everything and anything that could possibly be related... me sucks.... hahaha. Anyway, I guess I'll end it like that.... hope you all have a good Christmas and New Year. Just try to remember what Christmas is really about... it's not about presents man.... It is only about one present... from God to us...... Amen.

Ah dammit... this isn't working. It's been another month since the last update.... and quite honestly I'm losing interesting in keeping this journal. Quite frankly, there's nothing left to talk about. At least, nothing I've already talked to other people about. I guess this page was merely an outlet when I was in school, when I barely had anyone left to talk to given the fact that most of my closest friends were on internship. Now things are different as summer is here and I'm back home.... and I've grown closer with people over time and through events like World Youth Day. Life could be pretty funny sometimes...
World Youth Day.... what could I say? It was a great event in its own right, but of course, it's Toronto... the city I've live in for 18 years now. So it was a different feeling from say Rome and Paris when I went in 2000 and 1997 respectively. At least there were new sights to see and a different culture to experience. At least I'm sure that pilgrims from around the world must have felt that way when they came here. Some probably have never been to North America before... well, I feel happy for them. North America is seen as a continent of dreams and a bright future. Heh, if only they knew..... (sarcasm). Ah well...
I suppose that people who read this is VERY curious as to what has happened with my love life.. given that supposedly my question should have been answered by now..... hahaha ok..... well, to put it lightly... it's done. What do I mean I'm done? It means...... it worked out. I'm now officially out of the single life again! This time, it's really different. Everything I've hoped for and wanted has come true...... and I'm not exaggerating! This girl is DIFFERENT!!! Now I know why I fell in love with her 5 years ago............ I knew from the start that she is a unique girl, and I was right. She still is.... even though we're so far apart from each other, both of us are willing to do whatever it takes to keep this relationship going.... it's going to be hard (both on our patience and our wallets =P) but I'm willing to take the chance. I said that I didn't want this to work out if it was going to be all for nothing, so I firmly believe that I'm set for the rest of my life..... a bit early to say so don't you think? But this is definitely someone I will risk everything for. I am not giving this one up for anything!
September is almost here, which means I will be finished my current job and will be in the market looking for another one. Also school will have started again for most people. I think I'm going to put this journal on hiatus for the time being. I really don't think that I can keep this updated often enough to justify its existence... so this will be the last entry for now. I will update again, but no guarantees as of when. Perhaps someday, when I need to vent and have no one to vent to..... perhaps someday..... until then, best wishes to all of you. See you out there.......
